The Education Forum for Asia held its first annual conference, which focused on initiating steps towards greater active regional collaboration on education policy and programs that promote the internationalization of education standards, processes and institutions to meet the needs of a rapidly developing Asia . Special attention was placed on meeting immediate needs of excluded communities by collaborative efforts from both public and private institutions to enhance education infrastructure and services, training & vocational education, ICT & distance learning, and other educational resources. Conference proceedings also included a roundtable discussion on the mobilization of Asian Scholarship Fund as well as a roundtable discussion on the establishment of an Asian Business School and the formation of a related network and certification system.

The Education Forum for Asia Beijing 2004 offered an excellent opportunity for discussion and high-level international talks among education stakeholders across Asia . This opportunity provided education ministers and top education officials a chance for in-depth communication and to share with other participants their experience on national education reform, achievements, effective solutions and development goals. They also proposed and discussed a variety of suggestions and recommendations for further strengthening international cooperation in education and development.
